Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
I'd love to get him back as he was exceptional for us and seemed like he was well liked in the dressing room but lets be honest the only reason he would leave ManU now is if he believed he would have a chance to go to the World Cup. If he has looked at it realistically and thought with all the other options England have with the likes of Madison at Leceister coming good again that he doesn't have a shout then it makes perfect sense the run his contract down. He's approaching 30 with the chance to get one last big payday with a sizeable signing on fee and high wages that could make a £5-10m difference to him personally if not more. When you consider how short a players career is then he's doing the best thing for him and why shouldn't he, its what we would all do. He'll still have a choice of at least 4 or 5 clubs who will take him.

Move on ffs

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
I don't really believe he wants to wait until the end of the season. More likely the story has been planted in the media to put pressure on Man Utd to sell or loan him out.

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
I dont get his motivation at all.

He came here on loan and arguably played the best football of his career and made the england squad because of that.

Now he goes back there and seems content to not play again putting him right back where he started. If he barely plays between now and the end of the season is there really gonna be a long queue of clubs wanting to throw huge wages at him?

I just dont get it.

Ali yard? Lingard obvs

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
If Ali yard runs his contract down there’s no chance of him going to the World Cup, which I assume he still has ambitions for! Get him for £10m and he will be a good boost towards our cup and European ambitions plus a CB and striker of course!

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
I dont blame Lingard in this, it seems like he acting in his own best interests.

But we should realise that and move on. Or give him a take-it or leave-it offer which is not astronomical (assuming Man Utd would entertain a transfer).

He is not worth £200kpw even on a free. I wouldn't want to be paying him upwards of £100kpw if it's a 3+ year deal either.

There are better value players out there and lets hope Rob Newman can find a few for us.

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
A bit like everything we do, it seems to be dragging on too long for it to work. I like him as a player and he seems to fit in with the dressing room despite his previous antics at the Manchester club. Either join us in the next 7 days or trot of to moneybags Newcastle and fight your way out of relegation.

No from me. If he really wanted to join he’d be here by now. Move on.

Has Lingard played for MU in Europe this season? if so would he be cup tied from our Europa game(s)?

Did anybody actually think Declan was going to leave in this window? Not a chance. That was a pointless exercise but what do you expect from that radio station.

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
It's pretty obvious he wants to run down his contract. If he wanted to go he'd have gone already. Players have a lot of power. He's making it sound like his hands are tied.

I almost think he's just been playing both Man U and West Ham along really. And now cup tied as well... that really adds to your value!

Lets move on.

And to be honest, the way his form dropped towards the end of the season, not sure I care really. (just annoyed he scored that goal against us early on... )

" that Lingard is staying at Man U until end of season and will want £200k a week as a free agent"

I've been saying from the start he'd be mad not to run his contract down and get a nice juicy signing on fee and likely bigger wages.

But then you had grassLOLopper on the rumours thread insisting that Man Utd won't let him leave on a free (like that have a choice).

Charoo 1:16 Tue Jan 11
Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
Not coming back - Sullivan been on to his mouthpiece White to say Declan won’t leave in this window. Then he dropped in that Lingard is staying at Man U until end of season and will want £200k a week as a free agent.

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
Clearly my dyslexia is getting the better of me, I meant LB cover for Cresswell. And that doesn’t mean a mercenary like Digne, we need someone young with clear ability who can learn from Cresswell and gradually replace him.

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
Left back, centre back and forward are giving us issues, but left back can wait, forward possibly covered, CB urgent in my opinion

SurfaceAgentX2Zero 10:34 Tue Jan 11
Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
RB cover isn't an issue. We are far more likely to ship one out than bring another one in, I would have thought.

Anders 10:32 Tue Jan 11
Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
As others have said, we have more important priorities, a left sided CB, RB cover and CF cover. We already have a lot of options in attacking midfield, our needs have changed. Plus he’ll only disappoint second time round. Move on.

Re: Jesse Lingard - Yes or no?
Good player , fitted well with our squad & was comfortably our best finisher.
While everyone complains about the finishing of Fornals, Benrahma , Antonio etc its a no-brainer at £10m or thereabouts.

Had no problem that after his spell with us that as a Manchester lad that he wanted to give making it with his boyhood team one last chance.
Obviously neither Ole nor Ralf Whatsit rate him so he needs to move on.
If its for football reasons it will be us, if its for money then Newcastle.

Suspect nothing will happen til after Jan 22 when we go to Old Trafford. Not sure anyone there fancies him turning up in a West Ham shirt & banging in a hat-trick.
